Campaign Update – 22 October 2018

It must be made absolutely clear the Masterplan is still happening, the consultation is still taking place, and people only have until Friday 2^nd November to voice and action their concerns by signing the KPS campaign petition and returning the pre-paid postcard that every household in the CA10 & CA10 will receive from today, Monday 22^nd October onwards. Why is this important? BIG Plans, need a BIG response.

Who we are

We are a Campaign Group to oppose the Penrith Strategic Masterplan.

The group believes the Eden District Council’s Masterplan for Penrith and Eden, which envisages doubling the population of Penrith by building 5,560 new houses in three new ‘Garden villages’ behind the Beacon, and putting a development on the Beacon itself, will cause more problems than it solves and change the area forever.

What we plan to do

We are going to conduct an online and offline campaign against the Masterplan. Penrith and Eden deserves better, and we need a plan based upon the feedback and thoughts of the people of Penrith and Eden to improve Penrith itself, its facilities and some of the poorer quality housing in the town. This should be the priority rather than building a vast number of new houses around 2.5 miles from the town centre and building on the Beacon itself. We want to work with local people and build an alternative vision that addresses their real concerns and aspirations.
